Loading WRI onto my ipod for listening during my monday a.m. workouts has become my new ritual. Hearing your description of the “divine madman of dragon lineage” somehow provided a surge of testosterone this morning at the gym… I felt a noticeable decrease in my body fat index. Indeed, I think we’ve both found our new deity. Do you think a line of workout gear with the winged phallus has any marketplace potential?
Couldn’t say for sure, but when I was “living” in India I think I heard that these monkeys had this name because it was believed that this was the species that helped Rama save Sita in the Ramayana – albeit in their earlier gigantic form. Hanuman was a giant monkey General, who aided the giant monkey army who went off to help rescue Sita from her evil captor.
I didn’t think there were any winged penises in the Ramayana… but now I believe there probably were and no one told me. It all fits together, in the far-flung Hindu kingdoms of the Himalayas.
The other world cup AND monkeys on trains? Best broadcast yet. Not to mention the odd phallus or two.

And perhaps the inspiration for General Ursus in “Beneath the Planet of the Apes.”
Following on the analogy, it seems not to be the case that “ape must not kill ape,” if by ape we mean monkey and if by kill we mean frighten off a train.
Ape Lincoln. Yup. They’re going to take over soon. And quite rightly so.
I always thought of General Ursus as the the William Westmoreland of the ape dominated future.
