I think some themes are developing as we near out 20th episode–trash, speed, and travel among them.

However, we will of course continue to let our interests range widely–perhaps we’ll spin off another podcast called “Foreign Grabage Dumps on Drugs.”

And I can’t spell today. As they say, I haven’t had my coffee.

There is a music scene in Antarctica! They have a music festival every year - although I don’t think they book many touring bands. It’s called “Ice-a-palooza.” Really! Now that would be a great long weekend.

Yes, we’ve heard of this event. Frankly we think “Coldachella” would be a better name, but I suppose they’ve got bigger problems to worry about.

I think I speak for Francis when I make this promise: if WE get booked for an Antarctic Music Festival, we SO would go!

Joshua Tree has to do with the moon because everything has to do with everything else.

I think I remember reading that to pass the time at the south pole the folks down there would read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings out loud to each other. It was at that point I lost interest in the south pole.

Hello Francis - I’m enjoying WRI immensely, having only learned of its existence last week.
Re the rampant, codified brown shoe-ism in science and in academia in general: my wife Chelsea, a costume designer and teacher, refers you to the writings of Valerie Steele, fashion historian and director of the museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
