CRAMPS! i saw the Cramps at the Peppermint Lounge in NYC in 1983. That club had a well-balanced sound system, but when they came on, they intentionally cut out all the highs and lows, so it was all mid-range mud. Lux played the last several songs with his johnson hanging out. I was very proud that when my son was about 4, he pulled my “Bad Music for Bad People” CD off the shelf and insisted i play it because he liked the art so much. He of course immediately dug the music, and was the only kid in his preschool who knew all the words to Goo Goo Muck.

I’m pretty sure I was at that Peppermint Lounge show. My girlfriend developed a dance that involved me shaking her violently until she fell. Lots of people came up to us and said “cool dance.” Haven’t heard that much in my life before or since.

Callao was the center of the Spanish gold route. It got stolen from the Filipines, then went on Spanish ships to Callao where they would pick up the rest of the Spanish stolen treasure, then they would sail around the Horn to Spain, where the ships would either sink in a storm near Florida, or the British would steal the gold from the Spanish!
