I will grant that accounts of human testicle chewing are few and far between (nibbling may be a different story, and perhaps a difference between man and chimp is simply a degree of tenderness in relation to the genitalia) but similar savageries are not hard to find among our own kind. Biting and eyeball gouging were common tactics during brawls on the American frontier, and a quick google search reveals that it lives on today as a suggested mode of attack/defense, and, oh yeah, Mike Tyson.

And I don’t believe I have to go into detail about gladiatorial combat and other entertainments of ancient Rome- which left North Africa largely depopulated of mega fauna so that the coliseums could continue to entertain the masses. So, perhaps we see that another difference between man and chimp comes in the organization and planning of our acts of savagery. For chimp, it is spontaneous and sporadic and largely intra-species; for man, wished for, anticipated, carefully planned, and continuous across a range of species, genus and family.

Another thing anticipated, planned and continuous is your slander of the other great apes. For shame.

On the other hand “the nervous chatter of estrus resplendent baboons” made me laugh.
